Copyright and DMCA takedowns

Last updated October 6, 2026

dazl respects copyright and expects the businesses that use it to do the same. What dazl hosts for a business: its booking page and chat answers (written from the public pages of its own website and the facts it types), the messages its customers send, photos customers attach in a chat, and the emails it drafts. If you believe something on dazl infringes your copyright, tell us and we will act on it promptly. These rules follow the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512).

How to send a takedown notice

Your notice must be in writing and include all of these:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature (typing your full name is fine), as the copyright owner or someone authorised to act for them.
  2. The copyrighted work you say is infringed. If there are several, a representative list.
  3. The material you say infringes, and enough to find it: the full dazl link (for example the booking page address) and what on that page.
  4. Your contact details: name, postal address, phone number and email.
  5. A statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  6. A statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner or authorised to act for the owner.

Where to send it

Send notices by email to gagan@getfoolish.com with “Copyright notice” in the subject.

Under § 512(f), anyone who knowingly misrepresents that material infringes, or that it was removed by mistake, may be liable for damages. If you are not sure, ask a lawyer first.

What we do

When a complete notice arrives, we remove or disable the material, tell the business that posted it, and send them a copy of the notice.

Counter-notice

If your material was removed and you believe that was a mistake or misidentification, you can send a counter-notice to the same address. It must include:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature.
  2. The material that was removed and where it appeared before it was removed.
  3. A statement under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith the material was removed by mistake or misidentification.
  4. Your name, postal address and phone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the US Federal District Court for the judicial district of your address (or, if you are outside the US, any judicial district in which dazl may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice or their agent.

We send a copy of the counter-notice to the person who sent the original notice. Unless they tell us they have filed a court action to stop the infringement, we restore the material 10 to 14 business days after we receive the counter-notice.

Repeat infringers

We close, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of businesses that repeatedly infringe copyright, and we may remove material or suspend an account sooner when the infringement is clear.
